About the foundation

Rural Health Foundation, Inc. (RHF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Tahlequah. It is a separate organization affiliated with Cherokee County Health Services Council (CCHSC), not a CCHSC program. RHF was formed to promote and further the mission of the organizations represented on its board of directors: Tahlequah Public Health Authority–Northeastern Health Systems, Northeastern State University, Cherokee Nation, and Cherokee County.

RHF's primary mission is to enhance the health and well-being of Cherokee County residents and of all Oklahomans. One of the groups RHF serves is people living at or below the poverty level who do not have access to health care or wellness information.

What RHF does

RHF supports area health organizations as they deliver prevention activities, including healthy living activities, nutrition promotion, and physical fitness. Recent activities have included health fairs, work with the local farmers market, and community gardening projects.
