Help build a healthier community with Cherokee County Health Services Council
There are many ways to support health in Cherokee County: give your time, serve a year with AmeriCorps VISTA, join an event, or bring your organization alongside ours.

Volunteers help CCHSC reach more people, from community events like the Overdose Awareness Day Color Run to outreach for our health programs.
Opportunities change through the year. Tell us what interests you and when you are available, and we will let you know how you can help.
How to get started
- Email or call our office and tell us a little about yourself.
- Let us know what kind of help interests you and when you are free.
- We will follow up about opportunities that fit.
Our email address is office@cchsc.net.
National service
Serve with AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTA is a full-time, year-long national service program focused on fighting poverty. CCHSC places AmeriCorps VISTA members with nonprofit organizations and public agencies in Cherokee and neighboring counties.
Members build the capacity of the organizations they serve rather than providing direct services. In exchange, they receive a living allowance and other benefits set by AmeriCorps.
- Full-time, year-long service
- Ages 18 and up, with no upper age limit
- U.S. citizenship or an eligible legal residency status is required; see AmeriCorps for full eligibility
- Living allowance, plus a cash stipend or education award at the end of service
Nondiscrimination
This program is available to all, without discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, religion, age, national origin, genetic information, disability, military status, familial status, political affiliation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
Read the AmeriCorps Program Civil Rights and Non-Harassment Policy (PDF) (external site). If you are an AmeriCorps member or volunteer, or applied to be one, and believe you were discriminated against or harassed, contact the AmeriCorps Office of Civil Rights at (202) 606-7503 or eo@americorps.gov within 30 calendar days of the discrimination or harassment. You do not have to use CCHSC's own complaint process first, and AmeriCorps prohibits retaliation against anyone who raises a concern. Anyone served by an AmeriCorps program can also contact the AmeriCorps Office of Civil Rights.
