About this policy
This policy explains what information Cherokee County Health Services Council (CCHSC) collects through this website, and through the outside services it links to for donations and program forms, and how we use it. Our Terms of Use explain how the website may be used.
The short version
- You can read this website without filling in a form or telling us who you are.
- This website does not use cookies, advertising, tracking pixels, or outside analytics services.
- Apart from the basic technical information every website receives (see "Information collected automatically"), we get information about you only when you choose to send it: a message, a newsletter sign-up, a donation, or a program form.
- We use what you send to respond to you and to run our programs. We do not sell personal information.
- Please don't send health information through this website or by email. This website is not for emergencies: in an emergency, call 911. For a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988.
Information you choose to send us
Our contact form
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, what your message is about, and your message. A phone number is optional. We use what you send to respond to you and to act on your request (for example, to update a directory listing or arrange a training). We share it only as described in this policy.
When you send a message, the website passes it to an email delivery service, which delivers it to our office by email. The website itself does not save or log your message.
To protect your privacy, please don't include health information, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive details. If you need to tell us something private, call our office.
Our newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and pass it to our email service, which sends you news about CCHSC programs, events, and health resources. You can unsubscribe at any time. We never sign you up because you sent us a message or made a donation.
Donations
Online gifts are made on a secure payment page run by Stripe, not on this website. Stripe's page asks for the amount, your email address, the program you would like to support, your card details, the cardholder's name, and your country or region. It may also offer to save your details with Link, Stripe's checkout service.
Stripe tells us about your gift, such as your name, email address, the amount, the date, and the program you chose, so we can record it and send a receipt. Stripe shows us only your card's type, last four digits, and expiration date, never the full card number.
Stripe processes your payment for us. It also uses some payment information for its own purposes, such as preventing fraud and meeting legal requirements, under its own privacy policy (external site). Stripe's page uses its own cookies. If you save your details with Link, that account is between you and Stripe.
If you give by check, we use the information on the check to process and record your gift.
Program forms on other services
Some programs use outside form services: training requests use Google Forms, and the Recovery Friendly Workplace program uses Jotform. What you enter there comes to CCHSC through that service, and that service's privacy policy also applies: Google's privacy policy (external site) and Jotform's privacy policy (external site).
Phone calls and email
If you call or email us, we receive what you share, such as your phone number or email address, and use it to help you. Email you send us is carried and stored by our email provider.
Information collected automatically
Our website host
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. Vercel's servers receive basic technical information each time your browser loads a page: your IP address (which can show your general location, such as your city), the page you asked for, the date and time, and your browser type. Vercel uses this to deliver the website and protect it from attacks, and for its own purposes described in its privacy notice (external site). Our hosting account shows us recent request records, including IP addresses, for a short time.
Preventing spam
To stop automated spam, the website counts how often each IP address sends our forms in a short period. That count is held briefly in the server's memory and is not saved to a file or log.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not set cookies. We don't use advertising, tracking pixels, social media plug-ins, embedded videos or maps, session recording, or outside analytics.
In two uncommon cases, your browser may keep a small amount of data for this site:
- a copy of public website content, such as our list of programs, so pages load faster; and
- a short note, including the address of the page you were on, that helps the page reload correctly after we update the website.
Neither contains your name, contact details, or anything you type. You can remove it with your browser's "clear site data" setting.
The outside websites we link to, including Stripe's payment page, may use their own cookies.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We don't put advertising or tracking tools on this website, so these browser signals don't change how it works. How our website host handles technical information is described above.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to many outside websites, including the services in our resource directory, social media, YouTube videos, and Google Maps. When you follow a link, that website's own privacy policy applies. Our website asks your browser not to tell those sites which of our pages you came from.
When we share information
We share personal information only:
- with the service providers that help us run this website, deliver messages, send our newsletter, process donations, and run program forms, as described above;
- with our funders and auditors, when our grants require it;
- with your permission;
- when the law requires it; or
- when we believe it is needed to protect someone from serious harm.
We do not sell personal information.
Records we must keep
Some laws, such as public records and audit laws, may require us to keep certain information or make it available to others. We follow those laws.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it to respond to you, run our programs, keep required financial records, and follow the records laws that apply to us.
How we protect information
The whole website uses encrypted connections. No website or email system is perfectly secure. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
This website is for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 has sent us personal information, please contact us.
Your choices and requests
You can:
- unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time;
- ask what personal information we have about you, and ask us to correct it; and
- ask us to delete it. We will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
To make a request, contact our office.

When we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
